Book Fair

Slovak writer Pavol Rankov visited Lower Silesia from the 3rd to the 7th of December.  Rankov is the most popular Slovak writer in Poland. In 2014, he received the “Angelus” Central European Literary Award in Wroclaw for his book “ Zdarzyło się pierwszy września” translated by Tomasz Grabiński. This year in Book Climates, in the series “Slovak Climates”, his latest book was published, titled. “The Clinic.” It is a novel, written in a Kafka’s style, about a man who is trying to get to a psychology professor. And it was in connection with the recent release of the book that the author came to Poland. Three meetings were held in smaller towns in Lower Silesia (Kamienna Gora, Wisznia Mała and Slizów). The last, culminating meeting was held at the Centennial Hall in Wroclaw during the Good Book Fair. The meeting was co-organized by the Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic in Wroclaw. The conversation, which was moderated by the book's publisher Tomasz Zaród and translated by Tomasz Grabiński, revolved around all of Rankov's books published in Poland, about inspirations, history and what Slovaks and Poles have in common.  After the meeting, the author signed books for an hour at the Book Climat stand and readers were treated with Slovakian wine.
